Scholarship for Students in Czech Republic

The Czech Republic Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports provide many scholarships each year to support international students who wish to study at Czech institutions. The various scholarships are:
  •  Scholarship Awards under Bilateral International Agreements on Co-operation in the Field of Education
  • Government Scholarships under foreign development assistance programme

Scholarship Awards Under Bilateral International Agreements

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic provides scholarships each year to international students, in accordance to bilateral intergovernmental or departmental agreements concluded with a number of countries.
These scholarships are meant for university students or graduates and PhD candidates who want to complete a study or research at one of the Czech public higher education institution. Candidates who receive this scholarship are recommended by the competent authority or government agency of the eligible country, where they can also submit their scholarship application.
  • Scholarship duration: 2 to 10 months

Government Scholarships

The Government of the Czech Republic provides many scholarships within the framework of its Foreign Development Assistance Programme to international students from developing countries who wish to study at Czech Republic public higher education institutions. The Government scholarships cover the standard duration of study in Bachelor or Master study programmes plus a one-year preparatory course of the Czech language or in a follow-up Master or Doctoral study programmes with English being the language of instruction.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships

The European Erasmus Mundus Programme provides scholarships for highly qualified pupils and scholars to follow a selected Erasmus Mundus Masters or Doctoral study programme or to perform teaching and research assignments within the programme.  Visegrad Scholarship Programme (VSP)

The International Visegrad Fund (IVF), established in 2000 by the 4 member states of Visegrad group: Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, offer scholarship programmes to students.  The IVF provides scholarships for study in Master’s and Post-Master’s/ postgraduate programmes or research for duration of 1 to 4 semesters at any accredited public or private higher education institution or accredited Academy of Sciences institutes in the V4 countries, or other countries . 

Citizens of the following countries and territories are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme:
Czech Republic (CZ), Poland (PL),  Ukraine(UA), Hungary (HU), Georgia (GE),  Albania (AL), Serbia (RS), Armenia (AM), Moldova(MD), Azerbaijan (AZ), Belarus (BY), Slovakia (SK), Bosnia and Herzegovina (BA), Russia (RU),   Kosovo (XK), Macedonia (MK), and  Montenegro (ME).

Eligibility Criteria:
The candidate must either have finished a bachelor study programme or in certain cases finished at least 3 years before beginning the scholarship. Also, the candidate’s home and host institution must be different.

Applying Ways and Means
Candidates can apply online. Fill out an application form and print it directly from the online system. Sign the form and submit it along with some required documents before the deadline.

Scholarships of the South Moravian Center for International Mobility

The South Moravian Center for International Mobility provides scholarships for international students in the South Moravian region of the Czech Republic. The scholarships are for pupils from EU non-member states for the first academic year at the universities of the region, in the follow-up Master programme and PhD programme. 

Field of Study: Technical and natural sciences in Czech language

Eligibility Criteria
Following students are eligible to apply:
  • International students from the third countries out of EU who are studying follow-up Master or Ph.D. study programmes in Czech language, at partner universities in Brno, Czech Republic.
  • Candidates who have not studied at any of the Czech institutions or secondary schools, except for preparatory and language courses or short-term study exchange programmes. 
Candidates must possess a good knowledge of Czech language.
Candidates who already have studied in the Czech Republic or have lived here for at least 6 months are not eligible to apply.

European and Other Programmes

Erasmus is the EU programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport. It provides support to higher education students to study overseas and for traineeships. 

CEEPUS- Central European Exchange Program for University Studies includes mobility grants for pupils and teachers involved the joint programmes. The CEEPUS Programme promotes the scholarship exchanges for undergraduate pupils, who have finished 2 semesters of study, postgraduate students and university teachers.
